New Somerset Bag Pattern

You all know I've been busy sewing. I have a couple of new bag patterns that I've been working on.  This is one of them. It is called the Somerset Bag. Oh I love this one! It's just the right size for me to carry around. It fits my wallet, sunglasses, phone, checkbook, business card holder and a lot of other knick knacks. It's got 4 pockets plus a slot to hold your pen so you don't have to go digging around your bag. I originally made the bag a bit longer, but my friend, Sandie, suggested I also make a shorter version and so I did. The longer version is 2" longer at the bottom. You get two versions in one pattern plus it's all rotary cutting, no templates required.
Make sure you hop on over to Sandie's blog to check out her bag. It's really pretty:-)
I made this bag using Dena Designs' London fat quarters.

This one I used Moda's Hometown fabrics by Sweetwater.

The same Hometown fabrics for this one. I love the red rick rack sticking out.

This pattern will be ready to ship June 1st.

Flowers

I don't have anything sewing/craft related things to show you right now. I have been sewing though. Mostly the TATC because it's going to be a gift for a lady in my church. I thought I would share these flower pictures I took when we went to help out with a Scout project. These flowers were all along the Hamilton Museum. It was a house that was converted to a museum. While hubby and our kids were helping out, I went around and took these pictures. All in all, it was a fun day with friends.

My Downfall

I LOVE food. Especially these. They are oh so YUMMY. Recently hubby and I went to try out a new restaurant called Sammy's Woodfired Pizza. The atmosphere was really nice and the service was great. Here's what we tried:

These are mini duck tacos. I didn't realize there was such a thing. Goes to show you it's been a while since I've tried anything new. It was really good.

I forgot to take a picture of the berry salad we had. I ordered this pizza. It's got arugula, ham and olives. It was delicious. The arugula adds a nice taste.

Hubby ordered this one. I believe it has sundried tomatoes, sausages and mushrooms. It was a bit on the salty side for me, but hubby loved it.

We couldn't finish our pizza but there's always room for dessert. We split this sundae called The Messy Sundae and boy oh boy was it a mess. It's loaded with ice cream, caramel sauce, hot fudge and nuts. They must have dipped/rolled the glass onto the hot fudge before they stuck it onto the plate. Then there was that puddle you see filled with caramel sauce and hot fudge sprinkled with more nuts. It was so good, I think I could eat the whole thing by myself. This of course is my downfall.

We took our leftover pizzas home and had it for lunch the next day :-

30's Fabrics

I am finally going to cut into my 30's fabrics that I have been hoarding for a VERY long time. Thank goodness there's not a lot of it or I would be in trouble. This is going to become a Carolina bag. You haven't seen the Carolina bag around because I am going to re-do the illustrations. I don't' have a time frame for that since I am SUPER busy getting some other work done.

Crochet Beanies and a WIP

I have been trying to use up my leftover yarns and thought I used most of it up until I started re-organizing my things. I found a tote bag full of small balls of yarn : { I was so happy when I thought I only had a couple of full skeins left. I got to work to come up with my own pattern and made some more beanies. These two will fit an adult or teenager. I did make a baby one, but forgot to take a picture of it.

I had a teeny bit of this yellow and green yarn left to make a small flower for the beanie.  The pattern for the flower came from the Lion Brand website. I made hubby a beanie with this yarn also. Now we have matching beanies :-)

This is my WIP. I love this color combo from Deborah Norville's Serenity line. Just my kind of colors. I am making a scarf which will pretty much match with a lot of things in my wardrobe.

Ok, so this is what I do when I take  a break from sewing. BTW, I have been sewing up a storm and I hope to release a new pattern by next week.

Hometown Tote Along Tool Caddy

I finally found some Hometown yardage while our family went away to make another Tote Along Tool Caddy. I was going to make this one for me, but someone claimed it. I don't have enough yardage to make another one. I am going to see if I can find some more yardage locally, if not I'll have to go online and order some to make myself one.
I don't remember if I mentioned Sandie's and Kris' TATC.  They are my blogging friends and helped me to test my pattern. I couldn't have done it without them. Check out their bags. I love the fabrics they used. While you're there, take a look around. There are lots of fun stuff to see.
